The Ashanti PinZ²yl Stud is the result of an amalgamation of three successful breeders, all having humble beginnings in Mooketsi, gaining valuable experience under ZZ2 mentorship and weaned into respectable breeders in the PinZ²yl family.

During 2010 Igmar Bester, established the Umfaan PinZ²yl Stud to supplement his already established Pinzgauer stud and continued focusing on improving his PinZ²yl genetics. In late 2012 Johan and Anton Toerien, together with fellow investors, established the Bakari PinZ²yl Stud. The vision from the outset was to obtain the best available genetic material. Kairo and Black Magic were the initial Bakari stud bulls, crowned Senior Bull Champions at various shows. The initial grand dames were Tzaneen, Cynthia, Bela Bela, Modimolle and Polokwane, each crowned Senior Female Champions in Bloemfontein, Tshwane, Pietermaritzburg and Thabazimbi respectively.

Dr Fini Seobi has been a respectable and active Pinzgauer breeder since 2013 performing well on various platforms and has obtained various accolades in showing.

During March 2016 the three breeders decided to transition and focus solely on the PinZ²yl breed and merged all three successful studs forming Ashanti Boerdery (Pty) Ltd on 2 April 2016.

The genetic prowess of the Bakari animals together with the acquisition of Umfaan and Rebama genetics remain the backbone of our breeding recipe aiming to perfect our goal of breeding well rounded medium framed animals, adapted to our hardy climate and field conditions, performing not only at shows but also in the meat industry. The goal remains to keep the best traits of the oldest African breed, the Nguni and compliment with the meat and milk traits of Europe’s oldest breed, the Pinzgauer, resulting in our beloved breed and product, the PinZ²yl animal.
